Hey there, i sent an email to the listed address, but i figured i'd try here, too. I'm a graduate student in the environment and community program at Antioch University Seattle and I came across your organization on the SCALLOPS Web site. I grew up in Edgewood and graduated from PHS in 2002 and I'm interested in doing a small case study and observing what's going on with your organization. I think it's awesome that there's a Sustainable Puyallup group right now and i'm very interested to see how Puyallup as a community is progressing in the area of sustainability.
Basically, all I'm asking is to come down and visit with you and your associates once or twice in the next few weeks for some brief interviews and general information gathering. Let me know what you think. Thank you so much.
a network of friendswho support each other's environmental and social justice work in the Puyallup area.
Some of ours skills and passions: permaculture, cob building, waste vegetable oil fuel, farmland preservation, community gardens, self-reliant energy systems, greywater, etc.
Come join us! email puyallup at rise up dot net!
As a group...
We would like to offer many things! Demonstration sites, greenmap, classes & trainings, action!
But first, we need to create a team of facilitators, ie Board of Directors: We have 3 of 5. Commitment: Two meetings a year. Rotation of infrastructure tasks. Benefits: Your vision can strongly guide and encourage sustainability in Puyallup. (until we have 5, this group will remain just a friend group with no land, money, programs, etc.)
Participating Members: We have a dozen or so. Commitment: Occasionally available for outreach, teaching, organizing workparties or projects. Benefits: Your projects can be supported by our group!
Interested Members: Probably 30 or so. Commitment: Get occasional emails about our events, and join in when you can. Benefits: Join us for support and fun!
